Of Charles Helou and Weygand streets, Area K passed away in phases in 1992 and 1998 along with the famous Rivoli Cinema. Area K delineated the northern side of Martyrs’ Square with the cinema building standing tall. The cinema was famous for its featuring of Indian and Arabic movies and was attended by many. The death of Rivoli cinema was broadcasted and watched by many. The building resisted its first demolition and had to be re-demolished.
Area K is partially survived by a 23-year old archaeological hole having Crusader and Roman ruins, and partially replaced by luxurious 8-storey buildings.
