Located to the left of Martyrs’ Square, Area M passed away in phases since 1983. Area M was made up the famous souks: “Souk Al-Nouriyeh”,” Souk Sursock” and “Souk Abi Nasr” and “Souk El Sagha” (Jewellers’ market). The porous nature of the area allowed a continuous promenade around the area with the occasional cinema stops like “Cinema Crystal” or “Cinema Zahra”.
The area M was survived by an archaeological hole for 38 years and replaced by luxurious hotels and commercial buildings.
