Located on El Amir Bachir street, Area T died in phases in 1998 and then in 2012. Area T was known as “The Grand Theatre” born in 1930. Famous European and Arab actors such as Abd el Wahab and Oum Koulthoum starred in the shows. Known for formidable acoustics and was built to resemble the “Garnier Opera House” in Paris. Later it developed into a cinema featuring Arabic and European movies. During the war, Area T became part of the Green line and became a wasteland. The only attendees at that time used the Theatre as a porno cinema. In 2012, part of the Theatre was demolished.
Area T is survived by a hole with a conserved building for 23 years.
