Situated on Gellas street, Area P died in 1998. Area P was known as “City Palace Cinema” and “City Center. Area P combined various commercial shops, restaurants, and cinemas as well as offices. The 1000-seat main theatre hosted a large number of people who attended the theatre to watch Arabic movies. Area P was partially demolished in 1998 and remained closed off to the public with few shows running. Area P is currently referred to as “The Egg” because of the egg-domed shape,and remains closed. During the October 17th revolutions, Lebanese residents reclaimed Area P as a public space where lectures and movie screenings were displayed and attended.
Area P is survived by a hole with a conserved building for 23 years.
