Of 135 Stanley Street, View World Hotel passed away in 1986. Also known as Atlas Hotel, View World Hotel was known to many in the South Bank area. Living on the corner of Stanley and Russel Street Brent Sturmont, and Mark Durl Senior enjoyed drinking beer and meeting up with friends. View World Hotel enjoyed entertaining guests of all ages, even school goers who used to hide in a space invaders’ room when police visited. Although View World Hotel’s reputation was not the best amongst some, nevertheless fun memories remain with others.
View World Hotel was survived by a hole for a year temporarily for the Expo’88 and then remained a green patch for 22 years before being replaced by a four-storey news network building.
